Rene van den Bos

René van den Bos has developed an even surprising as interesting technique in his waterclours.

On the millimeter he carves with a little knife in the top-layer of the smoothe paper.

After that he uses the big brush with watercolour to brush the paint over the carved lines.

By dissecting the carved lines, he pulls the lines millimeter by millimeter away from the toplayer of the paper.

The result is only definite as the underlayer of the paper emerge.

The skin from the paper is now a rough surface with vibrating lines.

So the coincidence is vital.

He never knows upfront how the surface of the paper will show itself.

By releasing his exact technique on a fixed screen of horizontal and vertical lines he shows a rhythmically varied image of various lines that seem to vibrate.
